Re: dapsa
Good question. You should put your query to any member of the committee. Or try dpcc.ie

Re: dapsa
The place has been running for 5 months now. That's hardly "ages". It appears that there isn't enough interest in full size snooker tables to justify putting one in. The amount of floor-space that one takes up would entail significant loss in revenue, considering how little it is expected it would be used. However this is just my opinion.

There IS a pool table in the centre. Have a look up in the Ancillary Hall, next to the Main Bar.

The web site at www.dpcc.ie has more information about the facilities available at the centre.

Re: dapsa
I'd like to correct myself.

There are both a standard size pool table (in the Ancillary Hall) and two full size snooker tables (in the [aptly named] Snooker Room).

The snooker tables are currently in use by the local snooker club. If you want to find out more, I'd suggest you ask a member of staff, which I can only presume you have not yet done - based on your assumption that no such tables existed in the club.

Check it out!

Re: dapsa
Just to update you on this...

There are TWO pool and TWO snooker tables - plus table tennis tables and a dartboard, in a dedicated games room, which connects with the function rooms next to the bar.

Snooker games can be booked at the bar. There is a 5 euro deposit on the set of balls and cues (refundable on their return) and a charge of 5 euro for 1 hour use of the table (you get a token for the meter which lights the light above the table).

Re: dapsa
HAVE YOU ANY IDEA OF THE COST TO BUILD, MAINTAIN, HEAT & SERVICE A SWIMMING POOL?

THIS DEVELOPMENT IS BUILT BY & FOR THE PEOPLE OF DONABATE & PORTRANE, AND OF COURSE THEY WANTED THE VERY BEST OF FACILITIES WITHIN. FOR THE SIZE OF THE COMMUNITY WE HAVE PRESENTLY A SWIMMING POOL WOULD NEVER PAY FOR ITSELF. CONSIDERING THERE IS ONE IN SWORDS & PORTMARNOCK, AND I ALSO HEAR SKERRIES ARE BUILDING ONE. WE DON'T HAVE VERY FAR TO TRAVEL TO TAKE THE PLUNGE
PERHAPS IN THE STAGE TWO OF THE DEVELOPMENT! WATCH THIS SPACE!

Re: dapsa
The Manager happens to be a friend of mine and he is not being paid half enough for the work and hours he puts in. In fact as soon as the project came into real difficulty he took a reduction in his small salary to contribute towards keeping some one else on board and keeping the centre open. I would like to know what type of contribution this Mark guy has made if any. His type of comments apart from being libelous are cowardly and immature. Maybe if more people got up of their arses and did something to help rather than being armchair experts we might have something to look forward to for our children and future generations.

Re: dapsa
As a member of the committee since 1995 I deeply resent the sentiment expressed by the person called Mark insinuating that there is corruption going on in the centre. I also have to say that I'm disappointed that this sentiment was allowed to stay on this website. I wonder would Mark be prepared to give us his full name and address along with his sentiments in writing.
