Keelings menu and management
Has anyone noticed that the atmosphere in Keelings has changed over the past while? Besides the fact that the menu has changed, the some of the staff and their attitudes seem to have changed also. I used to enjoy heading up there now and again for dinner but with the change in menu and the prices to some degree we haven't been lately.

Keelings menu and management
Hi Sleepinggiant,

My family and I used Keelings about 3 times a week and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Just before Christmas they changed the menu and I was so disappointed with the food that I have not gone back since. What used to be a great homemade burger has been replaced by something from a chipper. The fresh pasta and the great steaks have also gone. The food is now what I would call substandard. I believe they changed their very experienced Head Chef with inexperienced chefs (cheap labour) who now but in all the products. So nothing home made anymore. Real shame.

what do you mean the staff and their attitudes seem to have changed, they couldn't have got any worse than they had been for the last couple of years, staff in the bar are more interested in checking there betting slips and watching the horses than serving customers

I would also agree that the menu has changed for the worse. I had soup there the other day and it definitely wasn't home made. Before you were offered a choice of breads with soup but now you just get 2 slices of brown bread, enjoyable but not something I would rush back for.

The other thing I discovered last week is that the main lounge is closed on a Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, too much effort to keep open for a few people.

I was there Sunday night for the music and although the musicians were very good (I think) they couldn't be heard over the babble of voices.

What a shame! :(

you won't be seeing me spending my hard earned cash in there any time soon. It's a pity there is not a good restaurant in Donabate as it would make a killing....

To all the above unhappy complainers. Ye have to be begrudgers (can I use that term)
from the other pubs and cafe's. If not, then they have to be from people that have been ejected for unsocial behaviour, ie turfed out. I have never seen a chair thrown around in keelings. I have in the other venues in Donabate. I have never seen drugs being taken in Keelings. I have in other venues.
If anyone gets rowdy, the door men or bar staff try to calm them down and if that dos'nt work, they get ejected pronto. Thank God you dont see too many people wearing track suits and hoodies.
I am glad we have somewhere nice and safe and comfortable to socialize, meet friends and have a good time.
Since they did some minor renovations recently and took out the four pillars and gas fireplace. The lounge looks much bigger and is hopPing at the weekends. Great DJ on Sat and the karaoki now on Friday is packed.
Now they have a proper stage, bands are comming back.
The food is as good as its ever been. Prices are no more expensive than elsewhere.
However I do agree about the burger. It has changed. So come on D & T. Sort it out.
