| I'd say organsing deportations is a job for the miniser for justice. McDowell was pretty good at this. Surely some of these people are from the previous M50 encampment and have already been deported once before. |

Those whoe were sent home from the M50 encampment last were repatriated by agreement. They were not deported as such. They are entitled to be hear under EU law. They aren't entitled to welfare benefits and are supposed to be have a job here. Most get around this rule by claiming they are self employed. However I don't think that begging and squatting in someone elses house would be considered "self employment". The only way that these people could be deported is if they break the laws here.
Had the government caved into these people last year when they were on the M50, there would have been a free for all with people from that part of the world coming here purely to live off the state. I think that Michael Kennedy's comments about the council housing these people will cause alarm. If the Roma's are evicted on foot of an order for the possession from the court, it is possible that the council might have to rehouse them. I say this because in the past, individuals evicted from private rented accomodation do turn to the council waving the very court order which has made them homeless, with the councils then rehousing such people on an emergency basis. Unless there is a provision somewhere which gives the council an "out" in this, they could find themselves in a difficult situation.
Perhaps this scenario should be put to our elected representatives to see what their views are...

I believe Michael Kennedy is an excellent TD, who is very approachable. If you feel the information he gave you is misguided. Please obtain the facts to hightlight the differences via a clinic meeting with him and other TDs/ Town councilors. Rather than have a discussion slagging people off, going on months between this thread and other threads.

Gawd, the people on here are deplorable. Spiro Agnew in the first post quite clearly said leave any personal views on to other threads .. Or the pub . And you Snapper attack and abuse Michael Kennedy and his ilk.
How Dare you !!!!!!!!!
In attacking Michael Kennedy you attack and insult 20% of the first preference votes of North county Dublin.
Michael Kennedy is a fine public representative and does not deserve the torrent of abuse by the simple minded like you.
Many People voted for Michael Kennedy and he topped the poll. It?s called democracy. Learn to live with it. It?s easy to knock people. What the F*ck have you ever done for the community.
SHAME ON YOU SNAPPER

Mr Kennedy might have got 20% of the vote, but what about the other 80%?
And of that 20%, most undoubtedly came from Malahide / Portmarnock and parts of Swords and NOT from Donabate.
Like most I have to admit I don't particularly like him either. It's not that he's from Fianna Fail. It's down to his particlarly distinguishable mix of ignorance and arrogance that grates with most ordinary decent folk.
Can I say to those who think Kennedy is a great guy to do the following: ask Mick to get the big bump fixed which is in the middle of the road outside the entrance to the Fairways. It should be easier than sorting out the Roma issue, getting us a Garda station, building a secondary school, end even rezoning land for 5000 houses.
If Mick cares about Donabate then he'll make it a prority..... |

Derek:
thanks for your reply..
Just for the record Mick contibuted greatly to getting a secondary school for Donabate which is opening in Septmeber this year.
As for the bump in the middle of road
Have YOU phoned the council?
Probably not your waiting for someelse to do it
What we need is a counsillor living in Donabate to spot these bumps, now that would be great.
Oh we do have one he is called Gerry Maguire

| GUBU, why don't you tell us what your connection is with 'Mick' so we can see how unbiased your defence of him is. He is a politician and is there to be shot at as long as the abuse doesn't get personal and I am sure he understands that. For the record, I have never had any personal dealings with him and I would rate him no better or worse than our other public representatives. Its a very weak bunch. Just look at what a dumping ground North County Dublin has become for every unpopular infrastructural project |
