Beaverstown Road - Roadworks
Anyone any idea what's being done? There's a sign up to expect delays 6th & 7th.

Michael Kennedy's latest leaflet made reference to E16k of footpath works but I thought that was finished last year.

Hmmmm?

Anyone in the know?

I rang the council but no one had any idea of works going on.

I then rang Michael Kennedy's office who said it was a pedestrian crossing.

Anyone else heard anything?

I would imagine it's a bit more than a pedestrian crossing. Surely that wouldn't cause much disruption.

Parts of the road are getting close to needing resurfacing due to greedy developers digging it up to provide services and filling in the holes with a few shovels of tarmac.

That would be too much to hope for though.

I spoke with the council in January about getting the road resurfaced but they said there was nothing in the budget for 08 or 09.

Maybe this is a little treat!!! A surprise coz we've been so good!!!!! OOOOooooo I'm so excited.......... :-))

I saw two guys in suits with high-vis jackets talking with someone with a blind stick (probably from the house in Hazelwood) at the 'crossing' at Hazelwood/Barnewall last Thursday morning. Later that day the sign went up. I think a proper crossing was promised in the budget to the Hazelwood Residence association. So that might be it. But you would imagine there would be more work planned given that the sign will have been there a week before work commences. Plus it is a pretty big sign for one crossing :-)

Got a call this evening from MK's office.
FCC have employed a contractor to resurface the end of the Beaverstown Road.
She was told that there "could be" a period of 2-3 hours over Thursday/Friday where the road will be impassable. Should be good fun if you have a tee-off time!

i presume they cant make the road impassable due to people needing to access their houses etc.

although seeing as an earlier post said that FCC didnt know what was going on, nothing would surprise me.

I don't understand what they're up to. They resufaced the road from the old meat factory up to the golf club. That's the bit that didn't need to be done. The other end was much worse.

They also removed the two ramps. Hopefully we'll get them back shortly as they are very badly needed

The mind boggles.
