Yes ot No to Lisbon

Hi Snapper,

If you've done a bit of reading up on it, and then decide to vote no, then absolutely, by all means do.

Someone voting No because they do not understand negates the YES vote of someone who has spent time checking the issues.

It has wasted their time and their voice.

On balance, I think that's a bad thing.

I think that it's fair to say that very few really understand the document that we are being asked to vote on. Sure, I have seen the arguments for and against but the main arguments for voting yes are flippant at best from what I have heard and read.
I think that it is an utter disgrace that our government who are so pro treaty tell us so little about why it's a good deal for Ireland, other than a sentence here and a sentence there. Brian Cowen now as Taoiseach has a duty to the electorate to explain the treaty in detail if he himself understands it or to engage in public debate with the No vote folks as that would be useful for clarification. The bottom line is that the devil is in the detail and there is a lot of that ! Perhaps some of the pro treaty posters could enlighten me and others as to why we should vote yes. Currently from what I do understand , I will be voting no. Tks.

Fair play Snapper - at this moment in time I am very jealous of you typing in the sun but I have to keep the economy going before casting the killer vote & before the subsequent recession kicks in !!

I'll check the link when I get home as I have to do some work now ( minus the sun ! )

Thanks again.
