Donabate and Portrane Discussion Forum

Here they come!
I couldn't help but notice the large volumes of traffic today on the way into Donabate. The sun was out and the day tripers flocked into our beautiful village.
My first reaction was " bloody day trippers" and then I reflected and it made me realise what a great place Donabate is and how lucky we are to live.
Can you blame the flocks descending?

Its great,
I had my driveway blocked by a day tripper in Camper van!! like you, i thought how annoying and rude but then I was able to park my car in my driveway and enjoy the lovely donabate, and ended up feeling sorry for the day tripper!!

I don't think the traffic was that bad in the end. The beach was shrouded in mist and low clould from mid-morning onward. Certainly the queues heading out the Hearse Rd at teatime weren't your usual sunny bank holiday ordeals...

Ferrero, I admire your very Christian approach to someone bloking your driveway with a campervan.

I'd have a big problem with that.

Yes it's wonderful to realise that Summer is here. However I would certainly have a problem with my driveway being blocked - what if i had an emergency or needed to just go to the shop? The nearest shop to me is over a mile away.

No the beach was not open to cars this weekend, A lot of people parked up the road was not half as bad as I have seen it on such a weekend though! the beach will be opening to cars on the June Bank Holiday weekend!
