| That's interesting Vlad when people mention Humanity or Christianity you say shut down the thread, but where were you when the lunatic was condoning and encouraging violence against the Roma? |

Dub,
I thought Spiro had covered that - and hence I agreed with him.
Let me clarify - losing the plot includes those idiotic hate fuelled remarks condoning violence against the Roma.
It's actually probably illegal to leave those on the board, never mind immoral.

Anyone who talks about knocking down people should be banned from this site and should probably also look at getting help. As for whoever brought Hitler into it claiming it was a valid comparison, I think they need to find a bit of prespective.
Why can't this people in this country discuss something like this without resorting to name calling and labeling? It is a serious issue that people have genuine concerns about and deserves a serious discussion.

For the final time:
I AM NOT COMPARING THE PEOPLE OF DONABATE TO HITLER.
I AM NOT COMPARING THE VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE OF DONABATE TO THE GENOCIDE OF JEWISH PEOPLE.
What I have done is quote a passage from Mein Kampf and say it is comparable to what is being written on here. |

You said:
I was leafing through my copy of Mein Kampf this morning and Hitler's initial realisation of his distaste for Jewish people seems remarkably similar to what the people of Donabate are currently expressing about the Roma in the village:
So how is that not comparing what the 'people of Donabate' are writing to what Hitler wrote in his masterpiece? You may not have meant to do it but you still managed to link views expressed here by what I am sure are decent sensible people (the majority anyway) to views expressed by Hitler just because people have genuine concerns about a group of peoples personal hygene. Maybe all the Jews Hitler knew were squatting in derelict houses without access to basic facilities like toilets and showers and travelled on packed public transport in which case he was obviously just very mis-understood and had a valid concern. Or maybe he was just insane! |

I've changed my mind.
I think this thread should be left alone as a monument.
Meanwhile, I think I need a lie down.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Vlad I'll take you off my lunatic fringe list for now.
Old man I'm not sure where your going with that point got a bit confused at the end.
If there is nothing new to add there's probably no point dragging this on we'll never agree with one another. |

As I have said, I have referenced the quote. It is there for any of you to go and look at.
I find it similar to the views expressed on this site.
Not one person has written that they don't feel this is a just comparison.
All that has been said is "We're not like Hitler", "We aren't going to commit genocide" etc etc.
Of course I know genocide is not on the minds of people in Donabate but I'd like you to ask yourself whether the quote is similar to what is being written on here and ask yourself what that means to you. |

I think your argument does not old water Terontress .To suggest if I have this correct that Hitlers hatred of the Jews was kindled by his disgust at the uncleanliness of that section of society is wrong .German Jewish were an affluent section of society whom Hitler looked on with envy ,as the rest of German society were struggling with the legacy of World War 1 He used this as a tool to unite Germany against those he accused of being in control of commerce and finance .
I believe that there was also the simple fact that he believed the Ayran race and not the chosen race were supreme and that to annihilate the latter would prove the point. To introduce any kind of link to Germany with local Roma concerns I think with respect is in error .People have a right to travel the roads of this country having worked damn hard to pay for them without having to swerve in order to miss a lad jumping off a wall into the road,or for that matter witnessing some of the things discussed in this thread .Other comments made ,and we know where they came from ,should be treated with the disgust they deserve . |
