| Wow. Basking sharks are massive fish. Typically they grow to 6-8 metres. that's about 20 feet for those who still use old money. Interesting that one has been seen off Lambay. Wonder what it thinks of the quality of water around portrane. |

Hi Jack, there is lots going on with Whales & dolphins on our local coast if you put in Lambay on the linked site you will see what where and when we have from these welcome vistors and you might even sign up to the site and get email up dates.
I have some recent photos of Dolphins down by the Waterside hotel.
I spoke at length with the head of Fingals D O E manager yesterday, he assured me that the local water for batheing is above blue flag status he gave me the readings from the most recent samples all is good so far for us and those creatures on our door step. |

| very interesting indeed, for anyone interested in coastal wildlife you should check out Sea Safari http://www.seasafari.ie/ I went out with a group last year from Malahide and I have to say it was a great trip and very informative, also I have spotted what I think were Porpoise off the rocky part of Portrane beach at the back of Lynders caravan park |

As an aside, did you know that killer whales are actually not whales, but the largest member of the dolphin family?
Join me tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel for your next interesting fact.
