Have just come accross this thread by chance. An Ancester of mine built/redesigned this house in the late 1700's/ early 1800.He moved there from Cabragh Castle following his marriage. Several generations of the family lived there for many years until the house was subsequently sold to the Hely Hutchinsons by my great grandparents.
Obviously from the thread there are a number of people out there who have a direct link to the house . i would be really interested in hearing more from them....
Yes the house is beautiful... the Cronins have done a great job restoring it.
if I ever win the lotto I too would love love to buy it back, so Lambay may have competition. Thats assuming that the Cronins would sell!!!!! |

| A beautiful House indeed and I appreciated the info provided by pops, lambay and maud! Not to change the subject - but the Peninsula has a very rich history dating back to the time of St. Patrick - e.g. The Chapel Bank and St. Macudgahs(?)Well, the arrival of the Danes on Lambay,The Priests Chamber(Penal Times), St. Catherines Church and on it goes. From my childhood, I recall some great Pirate Stories associated with The Burrow. If you're a history buff, you can have a field day checking out the area! |

| The house being referred to is indeed Seafield House. It is owned by an Irish family who purchased it from the Goff's back in the mid 90's. A great restoration/refurb was completed and the house is simply wonderful. Might need more than a lotto win though!!! |
