I think I can already hear the noise of pencils being sharpened and envelopes being licked.

First time I heard about thias was about 2 or 3 years ago.

Living in spain I'm used to seeing to these things around the place.

Last month on one particular night, wind energy supplied 48% of Spain's entire electricity supply for about 8 hours. Normally its about 30% on any given day.

I think Tesco are going down the right road and if anything there should propebly be more of these windmills around the area supply electricity to homes in Fingal.

Dont knee-jerk this one into orbit like the Sports Acadamy was with a good and honest debate first.....

Adios amigos..

Whilst I agree with the idea of renewable energy wonder if the turbines would be better placed off-shore? Tesco hardly have a good track record with the local environment here with the erection of their visually neutral warehouse complex which is a complete eyesore.

Perhaps they would get more support if they engaged with the local community - how many local people do they employ at their facility? Might not be a bad first step to visit the local community centre the next time they are taking on people? Plenty of people are looking for employment.

maybe if they didnt have a thousand bulbs lighting up the exterior of that warehouse 24/7 then they wouldnt need these turbines!

reducing that coupled with them planting trees all around the facility to shield the eyesore from public view would be a big step in the right direction.

On the subject of wind turbines, I kinda like these things. I like the idea of them and they arent TOO much of an eyesore in my opinion. However I believe they should be used to generate electricity to be put into the national grid, and not just for one warehouse

Well said shalamar on the lights. Tesco has a poor local track record for visual impact on the landscape.

Nah, I don't think it'll be allowed.

I was speaking with the local IOTA group (I Object To ALL) group.. not to be confused with the Not an IOTA group which is the Naturist Society down the end of the beach.

Anyway, the Chairwoman, Maureen Mary Philomena O'Hara said that she spoke with the local birdie protection officer Jim (Fly-By-Night) McDougal after mass and he said that the lesser known Horn Billed Spotted Duck visits the estuary this time of year. Windmills might be difficult to navigate for that species as it uses sensors in it?s bill for direction which find moving objects tricky.

Maureen Mary also took the opportunity to warn against working parents sending their kids out without a bowl of porridge in the morning. In her day they got a baked potato and a good face scrub before being let out. She was also very happy to get a lump of coal for Christmas.
