Fingal CoCo set a poor example....
Graffiti adorns the wall bordering the field next to the petrol station, a traffic cone sits on top of the road sign opposite Macaris and rubbish is dumped along the road opposite Newbridge. I have reported these to Fingal Co Co but there is no action. Would Malahide receive the same response?

Would Malahide tolerate vermin like the ones that lurk around Donabate like flies around one of Vlad's poop mounds?

It's time that we set up a vigilante group to police our area - I have some baseball bats and hurleys that I didn't surrender under the Peace Process - and it's time that we put them to use.

So I've decided to summon the first meeting of the DPVG - anyone else interested in beating the crud out of our local teenage layabouts and vandals should meet up on the down platform, Donabate station, at 08.00 on Monday. I'll be wearing khaki shorts and an XXXL combat jacket. Anyone interested in joining up is asked to bring a leather briefcase, so I can identify you. See y'all folks.

Good turnout for this mornings meeting.

Would Malahide tolerate vigilates with hurleys? I think not - it suggests boorishness; We need a more upmarket weapon in keeping with our 'the next Malahide' goal. I'm thinking either LV handbags full of loose change (any range acceptable except the rather downmarket 'Monogram Multicolore' range) or something from the bubbly range in Supervalue offlicence. There are many ways in which Champagne, and its container, may be used as an implement of destruction.

Challenge them to a debate in the community centre or parish hall.

Fair enough - the hurleys are probably a bit uncouth for one of the poshest parts of the Fingal Gold Coast.

What say you we arm ourselves with golf clubs and croquet mallets instead? And then we could patrol the area in SUVs, wearing blonde wigs and faux fur jackets while busily texting on our mobile phones?

Fair play Lambay for trying to get it sorted.

Im sure if you lived there the malahide notice board would have given you some support not a string of piss poor posts about attacking kids outside a shop in the village.

Yes, squatter, what is this nonsense you're feeding us? Some of us are here to do some serious debating, and you, sir, are a cad and a scoundrel.

Some folks here have a chip on their collective shoulders regarding Malahide. I grew up there and it's not all that different ( if at all ) from Donabate when it comes to the usual graffiti, teen drinking, yob, scumbag type behaviour that we encounter in Donabate / Portrane on occasion.

Ye need to move on people - our area is every bit as good as Malahide.

We rock & don't you forget it!!

My post was attempting to draw attention to the different attitude FCC has to Malahide , not any reference to the people of both towns. The street sign, traffic cone and grafitti wall are all council property! Malahide instead receives street cleaning, parking management, huge input from the Parks Dept and Roads Maintenance Dept. Is Donabate getting the same value as Malahide? Other threads here are welcoming the proposed CMH as an investment in th community....why not get FCC to allocate a fair share of funding to make Donabate a more attractive area to live, socialise and conduct business.
