| Hi folks ,I am intrigued as to what is going on at the top of the Portrane Road .Who ever it is ,they are cutting down all the hedge rows ,and today they were removing trees near the old ruin.Looks like they maybe about to remove the old derelict cottage as well . |

Hi
Been taking advantage of the nice weather and walking from Donabate down to Portrane and seen the clearing going on, this brought the ruin to my attention, what is or was it, before it fell into ruin? |

| I think you may have hit the nail on the head there hatter,I remember reading somewhere that the ruin would be exposed to view,with a kind of walkway upto it which would be nice,I may be wrong though. |

| As I understand it, the ditches are being cleared because flooding in that area has affected some local houses. |

I would be very douthful if they are clearing the trees and ditches because of flooding!! Never seen this part of Portrane flood, well not in the past 30 years any way??
The old ruin or house that is at the corner was once used by the local barber in Portrane, who now has his own shop in Longstone park.. Who was there before?? Don't know??
Hard to know why they are clearing it?? no money in housing?? maybe the land there maybe used again for farming as it has not been used for a very long time??
