Article re: Daniel McAnespie and his accomodation in Donabate
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2010/0517/1224270550221.html
Its a horrible thing to have happened and my thoughts are with his family.
Does anyone know if the accomodation mentioned in the article is Grove Lodge?
If so then can anyone explain what exactly this place is supposed to be? Obviously there are no rules/regulations/curfews in place because as we all know too well the residents are free to roam around, go where they want and cause whatever damage they so wish. I'm not generalising here but there have been many incidents in our village alone where the (some) residents of this place were involved. |

| It has been said on previous threads here concerning Grove Lodge et al that it would take a serious event such as a loss of life before action would be taken. This is a tragic outcome. |

| It's really sad news about Daniel. He was in care not imprisoned and therefore as all young people in care are able to come and go freely. Unfortunatly these are very vulnerable teenagers and this's truely the worst imaginable outcome for him. I'm sure the care staff in Grove Lodge are completely shocked and devistated that a young person in their care has passed away in such absolutely tragic circumstances. |

| listen don,t cod yourself those kids are not in the "care" of anyone down in Grove Lodge, they can come and go all they like, and if they happen to end up in Tallaght or anywhere else they can pop in to a Garda Station and get a taxi to bring them back. Every time they fail to return they have to be reported officially missing by the HSE (ass covering)to the Guards.Donabate/Portrane i guarantee would hold the world record for missing persons , why don,t you ask your td to get you the figures ? Meanwhile lets hope our kids are'nt randomly assaulted or robbed by one of them in the locality in the meantime. |

Daniel was not a resident in Grovelodge when he passed away.
Also, there are rules/regulations/curfews in place as there are in all residential care homes, but the staff are not the gardai, they can not physically force a young person to be back on time and to stay there |

| as a resident in portrane these kids have the run of the parish and beyond, the local shop tormented and the local pub was broken into last year by same young people from grove lodge. they have intimidated staff walking home from work and im sure its only a matter of time until something more serious occurs, then the government might do something about the situation. |

| What sort of low life makes a comment like who gives a crap good riddance. This child had no criminal record and was only put into care when both his parents died when he was a young child and relations who were not much older then himself found it difficult to look after him.I cant speak for the other teens put into this care and their problems. But can i just say nobody knows whats around the corner maybe we should take a look AT OUR OWN DOOR STEP BEFORE WE JUDGE OTHERS.WHAT A HORRIBLE THING TO SAY. |

| Sprout that 17 year old young adult was a scumbag who was known to the Guards, he lived by the sword and died by the sword literally, and was left to rot by his associates in a watery ditch in co Meath. The only reason why this guy appeared on this forums radar is because he was staying under the HSE care at Grove lodge in Portrane, I refer you to Gandalf the grey?s post and maybe you would feel the same way if your property was interfered with or members of your family harassed by the scum in Grove Lodge... you think the HSE gives a crap about there night time activities.. so yes indeed... GOOD RIDDANCE |
