Very nice idea to remember these people. Would be great to add to it and photos if they were available, well done.
Off topic, but isn't it amazing how the average height of people has increased in 100 years

Hi Redser

I noticed that too about the height thing, I'm sure theres a study about the growth of man over the last hundred or so somewhere.

I would love to be able to add photos to the names, you never know there may be some out there somewhere! For time being the only photos I will be able to add will be of the graves of the fallen, I will be on the Western Front in August and hope to be able to get them then.

intresting topic, that John Redmond fella has some answering to the amount of wasted Irish lives he encouraged to fight in the false hope of partial self-government.

bit of a stretch claiming that Ballyboughal lad as Donabate I think?
ballyboughal fella gerry seavers was an outstanding dublin minor last year and won an all ireland meadal with dublin at u21 a few months back I doubt anyone is gonna claim him for Donabate in years to come?

Hi Green & Amp;Black

The information on the website is taken from a variety of sources, for McCann it comes from the Australian National archives and is taken directly from the form he completed on joining up, he was asked: In or near what parish or town were you born, to which he replied, Ballyboughall & Donabate respectively.

The same goes for McCulloch, his information comes from the records created by the Royal Aero Club when he gained his pilots license, these show that he was born at Gerrardstown, Donabate, this is information that only McCulloch could have given them.

I have only lived in Donabate (& Ireland) for two years and have no idea where either Ballyboughall or Gerrardstown were/are, I am relying purely on the information supplied by the men themselves.

fair enough,
on a side note ballyboughal is a neighbouring parish and a nice rural area only a short drive away well worth a look for anyone interested in local fingal history espically the 1798 period.

Great idea and a very nice tribute site.

I have a huge interest in this topic and have contributed to similar websites in the past as I have uncles grandparents etc. who served in both wars. But i'M not originally from the Donabate area.

Well done on your efforts
