Secondary school
Hi

I am wondering is the buliding site beside the community centre the new secondary school? Secondly, does anyone know what type of sporting facilities will be built or will the existing community centre be required to facilitate this? Pitches, astro turf ?
Would love to know if anyone has all details?
Thanks

Yes, it is the new Secondary School. Access to the site is from the Beaverstown Road.

I don't know about sporting facilities, but I do know they started digging up the tennis courts at the community centre today.

My son is doing the parks tennis for the past few weeks and everybody turned up today to find there were no courts anymore so it was cancelled.

I don't know if they'll replace the courts at some stage. I know it was on the cards to remove them, but it wasn't expected so soon.

Yes, as far as I know that will be the main school entrance. We could do with a bit more traffic on Beaverstown Road in the mornings:(

Problem in the morning will be traffic coming from main street or portrane road onto beaverstown road. I can forsee it being backed up down the main street because cars gong to the school will be at the mercy of people letting them turn right into the school.

Unless of course they put lights at the school entrance on the beaverstown road which will in itself bring problems

Entrance to secondary school will be from the present roundabout at ET school. The entrance to the new ET school will be from the Beaverstown Road (incorporating a drop off facility).

How about more kids join the walk and cycle to school schemes?

It is good exercise, saves households money, limits environmental pollution, limits traffic, and is a good way to wake up and start the day.

Most estates in Donabate and Portrane are close by - a 15 minute walk (in a group) is a good start to the day and easily doable! I know it doesnt suit all but more could try!!!

ps I hope the new school thrives in our community

In relation to the original question about additional sports facilities, my understanding is that while the school will have possesion of the main hall in the sports club for the school day (they will have seperate changing rooms), there will be additional tenis courts and an all weather hockey pitch inluded as part of the school campus.
