Football on public greens
I on many occasions have enjoyed engaging in friendly footballing activities along with my fellow companions in specifically designated green areas which are also public areas.
However on a many a time our small party of people have been engulfed in conflict with angry residents who say we are a threat to the community by playing something which is intented only for entertainment purposes along with the added fitness enhancement.
I have been utterly disgusted when residents create a treat to phone for garda assistance.
I am very angry at theses occasions especially in the following areas:
SPIRES
FAIRWAYS
ST PATRICKS GREEN FACING MACARIS
I would greatly appreciate if the residents would calm down.

Calling the guards over football?

Does seem a bit harsh alright. This is the full story, yes? The football isn't mixed with cans of Dutch Gold, abuse and balls through windows or balls against passing cars??

If not, then I think you're in the right to feel aggrieved.

+1
Disgrace you can't play Football. If the people can't play Football on their greens that only encourages them to go off and drink dutch gold.

I hope you are telling us the full story.

Some residents in the spires are objecting to young lads under 14 playing football on the green, and have threatened to call the guards. i'm not sure why they are objecting could be that footballs are hitting cars or going into gardens or are a danger to younger children. When your children reach that age its great that they have a green to play on that one of the reasons I bought there. There is no need for this petty behaviour, just let some common sense prevail.

We have kids playing football on the green areas in Beverton of all ages and I'm not aware of any issues. I think this should be encouraged. Especially as it tires out my 5 year old and makes bed time easier !

Ours cars are at risk, but I've had footballs, scooters, bikes etc bouncing off the car (whilst parked) and I accept it as part of encouraging kids to get exercise and develop relationships with their peers and away from the damned TV and computer games.

I suspect there is a really weird resident or something else going on ?

It seems stupid that residents would be that petty to go to the trouble of ringing the guards. What do the residents say to the guards? That kids are playing football? Or do they complain that large gangs have descended on an area and pushed the local kids off the green? Do they complain that rubbish is thrown everywhere? Do they say trees are being broken and residents verbally abused? Judging by the state of some of the areas mentioned by Namanja, residents are probably only objecting to thugs and louts and have no problem with ordinary kids having a kickabout.

People don't understand that just because one group of people are age may have been on their green with booze dosent mean that we are. When people see us they automatically think we are here to cause trouble zoo they look for things to give out about like they always say "Do you live here?" and if we say no they tell us to go away then.

Yes i totally agree with the fact of older teenagers that do have the social booze on public greens.
But i myself am a 15 year old and i can honestly say the only thing that we engage in on these public places is football.
It seems to me that angry residents are looking for a scapegoat for the state of some ares and then therefore target my companions and myself.
But for god sake if we dont play football i can insure that binge drinking will begin to infect the group.
