| Expenses from our Local politicans |
|
I see from Indo Today that our hard working politicians expenses are as follows
Tom Kelliher 45057
Anne Devitt 37607
Gerry Maguire 34465
Clare Daly 27363
Darragh Butler 24705
Well well imagine that, 2 socialists in the top 3 with good auld Anne Devitt who forgot to pay her taxes.
It is amazing that Darragh Butler can do all his expenses for 10k less than the top three.
The top expenses for Fingal Co. Co. was Ciaran Byrne labour with a expenses bill of 59,352...
Animal Farm has nothing on it.

Does anyone know how these expenses are broken down. Looking at todays Indo it gives expenses for munster councillors, average seems to be around 35K. I would imagine councillors in munster counties would have further to travel to meetings. |

| 10K is an allowance for time being a Councillor. I assume that is factored in. As my accountant says, the biggest "legitimate" fiddle going is mileage and subsistence expenses. You get 59 cent per km if you car is over 1.6 litres. I doesn't take long adding up. Sleep at a friends house while away and you get well over 100 euro which you can trouser. If you play it straight - really do sign up and drive to conferences in Donegal and Kerry and stay over - it's all tax free too so you can do it with a clean conscience. |

| You'd wonder how many civil / public servants can fiddle expenses and get away with it. |

| Callelly is just the scapegoat. I fear we will see a lot more cases. Won't be surprising though |
