Keelings food
Just wondering what has happened to Keelings. Went in on Saturday night at around 8.00 after an absence of about 9 months. Asked for a menu and the young boy went into the kitchen and came back and told us food service was over. Another Bar person appeared and I asked him what time food service stopped, he also went into the kitchen and came back to say they were still serving. The place looked so grotty, dirty, no atmosphere, we decided we may be given leftovers, so decided to leave.

Went to the Waterside, they have a lovely new Bistro menu which was excellent.
What a shame though, as we always enjoyed a good meal at Keelings.

heh, I had a similar experience a few weeks ago but the other way around. The waterside was riddled with bar flies flying around the table while I was reading the menu, annoyed me so much that I went to Keelings. Food was great. They usually stop at 8 on a week night and 9 on a weekend I think. I've never been disappointed there (apart from when the steak sandwich disappeared off the menu).

Yes I also had the flies and appallingly bad service at the Waterside recently. A real pity as I thought the place had improved. This is the real problem: consistency or the lack of it.

I'm a fan of the food in Keeling's. Very good and pretty reasonable. Unpretentious and a solid notch above what you would expect. Kid's meals are decent with a bit of thought put into them rather than the usual fishfingers etc.

Waterside restaurant on the other hand is poor as far as I am concerned. Restaurant is shockingly overpriced. The fine linen and tableware and descriptions on the menu are incongruous with what is delivered on the plates.

We had a great sunday lunch in Keelings recently no complaints!

We gave up going to the Waterside because the service was so slllllowwwwwwwwwwwwww and the prices are to steep for a casual lunch,
