Irish Blindsports

Irish Blindsports is a national body, until recently based in Donabate.

Irish Blindsports is the officially recognised National Governing Body in Ireland for sports for the blind and visually impaired. At this writing it looks after no fewer than seven different sports ranging from Athletics to Water Skiing, from Judo to Five?a?Side Soccer, from Swimming to Tandem Cycling and Tenpin Bowling. All of that places an increasingly heavy burden on this amateur body staffed by volunteers.

In the thirteen years since Irish Blindsports came into existence, the organisation has put enormous effort into doing that for which it was set up ? catering for the leisure and competitive needs of blind and visually impaired people, whose simple desire was to participate in sporting activity.

As a result of the work of Irish Blindsports many members of the community who, as regards sport, might have been permanently excluded, have instead been able to avail of opportunities to enjoy the fulfilment that flows from taking part in sport.
